For a supported store installation, let the app’s distribution process deliver its data. If a developer provides an authorized manual workflow, follow its package/version instructions and the permitted location on your Android version. Older Android expansion workflows use a package-specific folder under Android/obb.
Storage restrictions and the app’s own download system can make generic “copy it anywhere” advice fail. Do not rename the OBB or mix it with another app’s assets.
Can you open or extract an OBB?
Google documents expansion files as opaque data and allows producers to choose their contents. Some are archives, while others use application-specific or encrypted structures. An archive utility only helps when the particular OBB is a supported archive.
Extracting assets does not install or run the game. The matching APK contains the application code; the OBB supplements it.
Missing data, wrong version and AAB differences
If the app repeatedly requests resources, confirm that the APK and data belong together and that the supported download or restore completed. Use a fresh authorized package rather than a randomly renamed data file.
Android App Bundles do not use legacy Play OBB expansion delivery; they have different asset-delivery options. This page does not distribute application data or decrypt OBB files.
