.RPMSG

How to Open an RPMSG File

To read an RPMSG file, return to the original protected email and open it with a supported Outlook client while signed in as an authorized recipient. Gmail and other recipients may receive a Read the message link instead. A standalone RPMSG attachment is not a normal PDF or Word document.

Choose what you need

Open an RPMSG email in Outlook

  1. Find the original email in the mailbox that received it.
  2. Sign in to that account in a supported Outlook client or Outlook on the web.
  3. Open the protected message; in desktop Outlook, try opening it in its own window.
  4. Complete any requested identity verification through your organization’s normal sign-in flow.

Having Outlook installed does not grant access by itself. The account must have permission to read the protected message.

Read a protected message in Gmail or another mailbox

Look in the original email for Read the message. Follow that link and use the offered sign-in or one-time-passcode method. The available verification options depend on the sender’s configuration.

If you only have a downloaded attachment, ask the sender to resend the protected email to the correct address. Do not give your mailbox password to an unrelated file-opening website.

Fix “you do not have permission”

  • Wrong account: check the address to which the original email was sent, including work versus personal accounts.
  • Forwarded message: ask the sender to authorize your address; forwarding does not necessarily grant rights.
  • Access previously worked: ask the sender or IT to check the protection policy and your permissions.
  • Desktop-only failure: try the original message in Outlook on the web and update your desktop client.

If your account is not authorized, the appropriate fix is for the sender or administrator to grant access or send an approved alternative.

Can you convert RPMSG to PDF or remove encryption?

A generic file converter cannot substitute for recipient authorization. First open the message through its supported protected-email workflow. Then save or print a copy only if the sender’s policy permits it. Restrictions may disable copying, forwarding or printing.

Renaming the attachment to .pdf, .eml or .msg does not decrypt it. This website provides opening guidance, not an RPMSG decryption service, and does not ask for your file, password or verification code.

What to tell the sender or support team

Report the recipient address, the mail app and the exact error message. Say whether the original email works in Outlook on the web. If sharing a screenshot, hide unrelated messages and personal information. These details help distinguish an account or policy issue from a client problem without circulating the protected attachment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open RPMSG without Outlook?

Some protected emails provide a Read the message link for browser-based verification. Use the original email; availability depends on the sender’s protection configuration.

Can an online converter unlock an RPMSG file?

A converter cannot grant access to a protected message. Use the authorized recipient account and the supported message-opening workflow.

Can I save an RPMSG email as PDF?

First open the message as an authorized recipient. Printing or saving depends on the protection policy; ask the sender for an approved copy if those actions are restricted.
