How to Open a CACHE File

Open or manage a CACHE through the application that created it. CACHE is a generic label for stored temporary data, not a universal document format; clearing it and recovering its contents are different tasks.

Choose what you need

Identify the application and purpose

Check the containing folder, application name and neighboring files. An image preview cache, browser cache and game resource cache can have entirely different structures. Ask whether your goal is to free space, repair the app or recover particular content.

Copy the cache before investigation if you need its contents. Do not assume that every cached item also exists elsewhere.

Clear data using the application’s own controls

Use the application’s documented cache-management feature when available. Browser controls often separate cached content from cookies, history and saved credentials; select only the intended data categories.

Closing the app and deleting an arbitrary directory is not a universal cleanup method. Some caches regenerate, while offline data or unsynchronized content may be difficult to replace. Read the product-specific instructions first.

Recover or inspect a cached file

A cache-aware parser for that application may identify entries, but a generic viewer cannot decode every cache database or compressed resource. If an individual entry is extracted, identify its real content type before selecting a reader.

Renaming CACHE to JPG or MP4 does not unpack a cache or restore missing resources. This page does not recover browser sessions or inspect private application databases.

Frequently asked questions

Is every CACHE safe to delete?

No. Use the originating application’s documented cache controls and distinguish regenerable cache from offline or unsynchronized data.

Can I convert CACHE to a photo?

Only a format-aware recovery route can extract an actual image when one is present. Renaming does not decode the cache.
