How to Open an AZW3 File
Open a DRM-free AZW3 ebook with a compatible reader such as calibre’s ebook viewer. For a protected purchased book, use its supported authorized reading application or device; calibre does not read or convert DRM-protected content.
Choose what you need
Read an unprotected AZW3 in calibre
- Install calibre from the official project distribution.
- Add the book to its library.
- Select the book and choose View.
- Check navigation, text and images.
Calibre can also launch its ebook viewer separately. Reader compatibility depends on the actual book and its protection, not just its filename.
Convert an unprotected book for another reader
Use calibre’s conversion workflow only when the input is supported and unprotected. Choose a target accepted by your destination and inspect the result, especially fonts, images and the table of contents. A PDF export can have different page layout from a reflowable ebook.
Renaming AZW3 to PDF or EPUB does not translate the book. Keep the original and metadata for future reading or conversion.
AZW3 will not open or asks for authorization
If DRM is present, use the account and supported reading workflow associated with the purchase. Ask the provider for device compatibility or an authorized alternative when access fails. Calibre’s lack of DRM support is not fixed by a file-extension change.
This website does not decrypt ebooks, remove protection or provide a browser AZW3 viewer.
