CRDOWNLOAD to MP4: Finish the Download and Recover the Video
A CRDOWNLOAD is an unfinished Chrome download, not a video format to transcode. To obtain the MP4, resume or download the original video again and let Chrome finish; changing the extension cannot restore missing video data.

Resume the download before changing the file
- Open Chrome’s Downloads page, using Ctrl+J on Windows/Linux or the Downloads menu on Mac.
- Find the original download and choose Resume if Chrome offers it.
- Check the connection, available disk space and any permission error.
- Wait until the download is marked complete, then open the resulting file.
Google recommends resuming paused downloads or retrying later. A completed download may have a format other than MP4; confirm what the source actually provided.
If Resume is unavailable
Return to the original source and start a fresh download. A sign-in session or expiring download link may require obtaining a new authorized link. Keep the existing partial file until you have a complete replacement if you need to investigate recovery.
Do not repeatedly rename the live CRDOWNLOAD while Chrome is writing to it. If Chrome reports a missing source, contact the site owner or find the supported download route rather than treating the suffix as the error.
Can a partial CRDOWNLOAD play as MP4?
