File Extension WEBLOC

In MacOSX shortcuts can be generated for the websites one visit using the Safari web browser and these files are saved generally as WEBLOC files. They usually contain the URL of the web page that was visited and can be easily created by dragging the website icon using the mouse towards the address field of the Safari web browser to the MacOSX desktop or any other folder for that matter that is on the file system. These WEBLOC files are very similar to the URL files that are created by other programs and also used for the same purpose as is this WEBLOC file that is to save the link of the web site in a file. These files are standard ASCII text based files and hence can be opened or edited using any standard text editor. These files can also be directly opened by the web browsers and they will then redirect you to the web site to which these file refer to.
