These database files that are created using the Microsoft Works database application program are relatively similar to Access Database MDB files but have more limitations and also use a proprietary format for the data representation within the file which cannot be opened using other tools or even Microsoft Access for that matter. In order to be able to open a Works database within Microsoft Access you will first need to open the file in MS Works and then export the file using MS Works as a .DBF file. This file once exported from within MS Works can then be imported into MS Word.
