DVD Object Files The .VOB file extension is for DVD Video Object files, which are, in practice DVD movie files. The .VOB file is a container file which includes most of the movies data, including the video and audio streams, along with subtitles and any menu features, and is so similar to MPEG-2 files that, apparently, you may be able to manually change the file extension to .MPG or .MPEG and it should still play. VOB files can be played on a range of video programs: generally your system will have a DVD player installed along with its DVD drive.
