These files are standard ASCII plain text format files that are created, read, written and used by the Nokia mobile phones for storing SMS text messages. These files generally contain header information and data like the senders name, sender's phone number, the data and time at which the message was sent, and the actual message text contained in the SMS that is visible to the user. These files are generally saved in a null-separated format which is very easy to parse and hence is used by the Nokia Mobiles very easily.
