VI files are special programs that are created with the help of LabVIEW software application. LabVIEW is a scientific measurement as well as testing application that allows scientists to measure, test and validate scientific data and measurements which are of a very small scale. These are referred to as 'virtual instruments' since they imitate the operations and appearances of that of a physical instrument such as an oscilloscope or a multimeter. Virtual Instruments are created or built from scratch using a VI template file which is included within the LabVIEW software and are created by the LabVIEW application itself or is created by the installation software that installs LabVIEW during the installation process.
