About the VEM file type:

Invalid file associations could be the result of underlying issues within your Windows PC. It is highly recommended to scan your PC for invalid registry entries, unused processes and other slowdown issues.

MicroVault Virtual Expander is on of the Sony's very unique file compression applications. It is provided as is pre-installed on several of the Sony's devices. When the software is installed on your system you can simply drag a file over to the softwares screen over the device and it will automatically be picked from the file system and compressed using the Sony's compressions algorithm and a file with the .VEM extension will then be created. Also if you drag a file from the devices listed on its screen, which will be in the .VEM format in those devices, to the windows file system then that file will automatically be decompressed from the .VEM file. The only thing required for the software to execute on your system is the fact that the appropriate device drivers for your devices must be installed on your system and if that is done then the software will work as stated.
