About the TVVI file type:

Invalid file associations could be the result of underlying issues within your Windows PC. It is highly recommended to scan your PC for invalid registry entries, unused processes and other slowdown issues.

This is a XML file format which provides information and data about a single or more televisions program. Both these TVVI and TVPI file formats are identical in every respect, the only difference being the fact that a TVPI file is generally used for programming in the future whereas the TVVI file is used for the in-progress programming. Developers are able to use this file format by registering their applications as a default handler for these files. These files have a MIME type of the TVVI file is 'application/x-tv-viewer-info' whereas of the TVPI file is 'application/x-tv-program-info'. When a user raises a request for a TVPI document through the browser, the browser will recognize the file and open the application that was registered as the file handler for these files on your system and it passes the name of the temporary file within the browser cache to the application. The application will then parse the XML of the file and is then able to get the relevant information and data that is within it like the program start time, the channel information, etc. The process for handling the TVPI files is exactly the same since they are essentially identical to the TVVI files.
