About the TAR file type:
Invalid file associations could be the result of underlying issues within your Windows PC. It is highly recommended to scan your PC for invalid registry entries, unused processes and other slowdown issues.TAR files are archive files which are used for storing multiple files within a single TAR file which can be created by the help of UNIX Tar program. These TAR files are not put through compression by default and hence these TAR files are usually compressed with the help of the Gnu Zip application which is often used for the creation of GZ files. The TAR file compression technique is not a very comprehensive compression technique and it does not achieve good compression ratios by itself, although when used with other compression algorithms such as Gzip, Bzip2 very good compression rations can be achieved.
