About the REC file type:
If Windows cannot find the appropriate program associated with .REC files, then your registry may have errors. Check your Windows registry for errors (includes file association errors).
The REC file extension is used for the Easy CD Creator Recovery files created using the Easy CD Creator application developed by Sonic Solutions. This was originally created by Roxio consumer software division but this division was bought by Sonic Solutions on December 20, 2004. From then on, this software along with the file format it has been using has been distributed under the Sonic Solutions name. This application allows the easy transfer of Hi8, VHS, or analog camcorder videos to DVD. The new files created are then saved with the REC file extension. This file extension may also be used in video files transferred to PSP or iPod.
