If Windows cannot find the appropriate program associated with .PK files, then your registry may have errors. Check your Windows registry for errors (includes file association errors).

The file extension PK is used for PEAK files generated, by default, for all the audio files opened using the Audition 2.0 software. This software increases the speed of the waveform display process because the waveforms need to be generated only for the first time. The user may turn off this process by selecting Edit, then Preferences and Display. In the Display menu, the user must deselect or uncheck the Save Peak Cache Files.
