File Extension MDS

File type: Media Descriptor CD Image File

About the MDS file type:

If Windows cannot find the appropriate program associated with .MDS files, then your registry may have errors. Check your Windows registry for errors (includes file association errors).

The .MDS file extension is associated with Media Descriptor CD Image files. The .MDS file tends to be used in conjunction with .ISO files, with the .ISO file being the image of the data whilst the .MDS file generally carries supporting tracking data.

Additional Information:
To open a .MDS file it may be possible simply to use a text editor (although this would need checking - and remember not to save the contents, once opened, since necessary formatting may be lost). Otherwise the file should also be recognized by a range of CD and DVD players, and other disk imaging programs. Examples include MagicISO, PowerDVD and UltraISO.
