LDIF is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard that describes the process of importing and exporting directory data between directory servers using LDAP Service Providers. These are used for describing directories as well as directory entries. It is usually used in order to build the initial directories database or also to add a large number of the entries to the directories simultaneously. It also describes changes to the directory services.
