File Extension HDR

File type: High Dynamic Range (image file)

About the HDR file type:

If Windows cannot find the appropriate program associated with .HDR files, then your registry may have errors. Check your Windows registry for errors (includes file association errors).

HDR files can be launched with various graphic programs. Digital images taken with various sources like cameras etc are not always perfect in color and brightness. These images can be saved in the HDR image format and then edited using various programs for enhancing their brightness and color. Dark shadow areas of the image or the washed out portions of the image can also be processed and fixed. This format is also used to batch process multiple composite photographs that have been shot using different exposures to create one single image that has a consistent color range. Since images in the HDR files are stored using pixel values, they provide maximum scope for editing. Double clicking on this file will launch the graphic program it is associated with.
