The GXT file extension is used in the computer game Grand Theft Auto II/III Text created by Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. The program was specifically designed for the PC, Playstation and Dreamcast. The GXT files are utilized for translating object name as well as long text messages such that when the user selects English as the language for the game, GTA3 will actually use the file American.gxt and not the English.gxt. When a player experiences system crashes while playing the game, the user may explore the MTA directory and remove the language.gxt file. A copy of American.gxt should be made and as soon as it is copied, the user must rename the GXT file with the GTA:VC game setting. For example, the user experiences a system crash and finds the Spanish.gxt file, the latter must then be removed and replaced with the American.gxt file. Furthermore, the correct game version must be selected within the client to avert any other possible system crashes.
