File Extension GID

File type: Windows Help Index File

About the GID file type:

If Windows cannot find the appropriate program associated with .GID files, then your registry may have errors. Check your Windows registry for errors (includes file association errors).

The .GID file extension identifies a Windows Help Index file. This is created the very first time Windows help is loaded, and allows the Windows help suite to be accessed faster by offering an indexing service. As such .GID files will be automatically accessed by Windows Help and so there should be no need to access this file manually.

Additional Information:
Another program format known to use the .GID file type is: GiD Project (an engineering 3D modeling application).
