The FH11 file extension is associated with Macromedia Freehand projects. In order to save or create the FH11 files, users would have to install and employ the Macromedia FreeHand. The computer application Macromedia FreeHand is used for the creation of 2D vector graphics that includes the usage of geometrical primitives like lines, curves, polygons and points in representing images. The said process is also called geometric modeling. FreeHand is quite similar to the Adobe Illustrator in scope, functionality and intended market. It was developed by Altsys and had been licensed to Aldus. When Aldus was incorporated with Adobe Systems, the overlapping market of Adobe's Illustrator and FreeHand resulted in Adobe returning the application to Altsys when the merger had been finalized. Altsys was then purchased by Macromedia. Macromedia then released FreeHand 10, 8, 7, 5.0, 11/MX, 5.5 and 9. It was in 2005 when Adobe bought Macromedia resulting in the return of FreeHand to Adobe.
