About the DRM file type:
If Windows cannot find the appropriate program associated with .DRM files, then your registry may have errors. Check your Windows registry for errors (includes file association errors). The DRM file extension represents a Drum Map file associated with the Cubase music recording and production application. This file format contains the settings of the drum map feature for specific MIDI keyboard types. It is also responsible for defining the varying drum sounds to be associated with the different keyboard keys. Essentially, the DRM format file is used for playing the drum instrument from within the Cubase application using different keyboards like Korg, Roland, and Yamaha among others. This file type supports the different program functionalities such as mixing, producing, and recording of sounds to create musical productions which can be distributed by the author using optical storage media or via the Internet. The Cubase application makes recording studio facilities and functionalities available to ordinary users via the computer system. The software is composed of a sequence of digital audio editing programs, music sequencer, and MIDI programs. It also falls under the classification of Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) which was conceptualized by Steinberg and released into the computer market in 1989 for the Atari ST platform.

The Drum Editor feature of the application is used to set up the appropriate drum map defined by the DRM file extension to maximize the sound reproduction of percussion instruments from the software. Majority of the feature sets made available to the user are only visible once a Drum Map is chosen and associated with the MIDI track that contains the drum pattern the user is editing. The most basic feature supported by the DRM file extension is the association of the correct drum names which will appear in the Drum Sound list that corresponds to the MIDI notes that will trigger the sounds. To select the DRM file extension for use with the Drum Editor, the MIDI track must be displayed in the Project Window of the application. The user needs to access the General Section of the Inspector and click on the Map Field normally located at the bottom part of the section. This will allow the user the appropriate DRM format file from the pop-up menu of the application.
