File Extension DCTMP

The DCTMP file extension is the temporary file generated by the DC++ application to represent its partially downloaded files. This format is used by the incomplete file downloads retrieved from the Internet used by the open-source software Direct Connect. This application is a compatible alternative download client used in file sharing networks. The usage of the DCTMP format file provides the user with the flexibility of stopping the current download with the option of continuing the process at the next instance of an active Internet connection. The commencement of the download is from the point where it was stopped instead of starting from the beginning of the file. This process however is dependent on the continued presence of the file being downloaded in the host server. The DC++ (Direct Connect) supports the file sharing concept that is growing in the computer industry and was developed initially for the Microsoft Windows Operating System environment. This application allows the user to implement unlimited file sharing operation over the Internet without restrictions. The client is differentiated from other file sharing clients by the significant absence of advertisements that normally clutter the user screen of other freeware applications. The DCTMP file extension also supports the communication protocol used with routers and firewalls to allow the use of the application in computer systems operating behind these devices.
