Two general files can be created with ProMash. One of these is the BRW file, which names the brewing session files. The other is the REC file, which names all the recipe files. The latter contains an instruction on how to mix different ingredients in order to create a new alcoholic beverage. Meanwhile, the former can have the schedule of mashes. In the BRW file, the user can have two mash schedule types. These are the simple mash schedule and the complex mash schedule. The first type is made for those brewers who can do simple mashes while the second type allows customized entries of mash schedules. The BRW file permits graphing of mash schedule and printing or saving this as an image file. Meanwhile, ProMash is designed to run only with specific Operating Systems. The BRW file is limited to function with these Operating Systems as well. These are the Microsoft Windows 2000, NT, ME, 98, and 95. Macintosh can also use these when it is using a Virtual PC. Linux can also open the BRW file as long as it uses Wine.
