The ABK file extension is used as the default format for the document backup files created by the Ability Write application which is part of the Ability productivity suite. This format is associated with the application used in the preparation, editing, and presentation of professional looking letters, memos, quotations, newsletters, mailings, and reports. Aside from the standard word processing features such as thesaurus, spell checker, numbered and bulleted lists, file import and export, footers and headers, font options, interactive rulers, and automatic document backup creation, this file format also supports mail merging functionality to Microsoft Access files even without installing the Ability Database feature.
